The World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, a United Nations
specialized agency, is looking for a technical communicator to begin working in
Geneva immediately.
POST DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will work in WHO's Information Systems Management (ISM)
division documenting the Activity Management System (AMS), a newly developed
project- and budget-management software system.
Responsibilities of the position include the following:
* develop material for the AMS user's guide and online help
* track and document changes to WHO business rules and the AMS software
* provide expertise in the areas of interface design and information delivery
REQUIREMENTS
A suitable candidate must possess the following:
* at least two years of solid, relevant experience documenting software
* a Bachelor's degree or higher in a field relating to technical communication
* excellent command of the English language (verbal and written)
* a proven ability to maintain multiple documentation projects simultaneously
* a proven ability to create graphics that help users comprehend difficult
concepts
* sensitivity to multi-cultural issues
An ideal candidate also possesses the following (these attributes are preferred
but not required):
* experience with Microsoft Word, RoboHelp, PaintShop Pro, and Visio
* the ability to work well with programmers, users, and trainers
* an understanding of financial and project management concepts
* familiarity with French (Geneva is in French-speaking Switzerland)
DETAILS
This contract position requires you to work on-site in Geneva, Switzerland. A
round-trip plane ticket is provided, but no relocation assistance is available.
Your spouse and dependants may accompany you, but WHO cannot cover their travel
expenses.
The initial contract is for four months. If the work is satisfactory during the
initial contract, the contract can be renewed on an ongoing basis.
