Web sites that can get me started writing online help through Rob oHelp

I need suggestions of Web sites, books, etc that can get me started
writing online help for an application through RoboHelp. I am totally
new to this type of online help and need some basic steps to get
started. I can do the writing once I understand how the software works.
I'm envisioning a menu option for Help, and then breaking down the
information by topic, or in some cases tasks. I'm finding the RoboHelp
documentation lacking for a beginner.
Some specific questions I have are:
Do I need to set up a word file for each topic?
Can I copy existing text from a word file?
How do the help documents get attached to the application?
Do I need to request help from a programmer to do this?
If I start writing the help project as a standalone, can the help
project be converted into another template, like Visual Basic Help?
Please confirm, that the final result (goal) is to have online help like
the help you get in applications such as Microsoft Office. Am I even
getting close to knowing what's going on? I apologize for the simple
nature of these questions but I have to start somewhere. Thanks in
advance for any help you can send my way. Vickie, vnurre -at- aegonusa -dot- com
