Programmer Writer - Plan and write developer-oriented and
solutions-oriented documentation for ActiveX Data Objects. May extend to
similar duties for OLE DB and ODBC material. This includes working with
managers to determine appropriate content; working with editors and
other User Education staff to provide high-quality documentation to an
agreed schedule; ensuring all material is tested and properly reviewed.
Candidates must have proven experience creating programs using data
access technologies, specifically DAO or ADO. Professional experience
with one or more programming languages, good oral and written
communication skills, good organizational ability, knowledge of database
fundamentals. Experience with database interfaces such as OLE DB and
ODBC. BA/BS in Computer Science is preferred.
Programmer Writer - write an SDK. Talk to developers/SDEs about the API
definition. Continually track interface changes and make changes to the
SDK doc as necessary. Output the SDK documentation in HTML format. Needs
all of the traditional tech writing skills. Must be familiar with SDKs
and their purpose/audience. Must be able to at least read C/C++ source
code. Look at API interface definitions and be able to discern the
"function call" and the lists of parameters Should have the perspective
of a 3-rd party SDE. Must have reading knowledge of COM interfaces.
Programmer Writer - Ability to read C++, development experience for the
Windows environment. Knowledge of NT server and network administration.
Primary responsibilities include populating a database which contains
every error message generated by all the various components of Exchange.
Candidates should have proven technical writing ability, excellent oral
and written communication, and proven problem-solving skills. Strong
technical and investigative skills are particularly important for
searching the product source code to find every instance where a
particular message is called and then subsequently analyzing the
surrounding code to determine all the conditions that cause the message
to be displayed. Also, they will need to be able to quickly learn how
all the various components of Exchange interact. Since Exchange runs on
NT Server, knowledge of NT (or the ability to ramp up quickly) would be
very helpful. The ability to read C++ code is essential.
Technical Writer - Minimum 3 years TW experience. HTML and DHTML
experience. Some scripting - VBS and ASP experience would be desired as
least a familiarity. On-line help proficiency - HTML Help. Ability to
quickly learn new technology. Position requires multitasking, excellent
communication skills, ability to deliver w/in tight schedule. Internet
background would be great. Research, design, develop and write technical
information online an in print for a 1.0 version product. Combination of
technical writing/training, quite a bit of help teaching users how to
use the product. Contribute to spec writing and style guide development.
Audience - end user composed of three categories, higher education,
technical training and system administrators.
Technical Writer - Senior Technical Writer needed to write HTML-based
online documentation for users and administrators of Windows NT and
Windows 98 operating systems. Windows online Help or HTML authoring.
MCSE or MCP certification on Windows NT preferred. LAN, network, or
Windows NT administration experience required. Web site authoring
experience is a plus.
Technical Writer - The candidate must be able to research, understand
and organize complex material, and be able to present this information
in a way that meets our customers' needs. The candidate must have the
following: familiarity with HTML, UE/UI integration and usability
issues, client/server networking experience, be able to communicate
clearly, both verbally and in writing; work well within a small team
environment, and be able to work effectively under pressure.
Qualifications should include a minimum of 5 years writing experience
and proven strong writing skills.
Technical Writer - Must be able to explain for end-users such technical
concepts as installing NT (domains, partitions, file systems, etc.),
troubleshooting stop errors and system recovery. Experience with Windows
NT environment required. MCSE or MCP certification on Windows NT
preferred. Technical writing or software testing experience a plus. LAN,
network administration or NT administration experience would also be a
plus. Hands-on HTML and web site knowledge. Experience writing online
Help. Write technical documentation for Windows NT 5.0 operating system.
