Question: Which way should you couch this sort of statement: "A number of terms used in this reference guide require clarification
before you read further. The following terms are interchangeable"
Answer: None of the ways you listed. They contain too much that is both passive and general. Be specific and direct.
Example: "In this guide the words 'huge', 'large' and 'gigantic' all mean the same thing."
