Term for the syntax elements of a programming language
Subject:Term for the syntax elements of a programming language From:Jon Herrera <jonherrera -at- YAHOO -dot- COM> Date:Fri, 16 Oct 1998 14:00:33 -0700
Hi Technical Communicators:
What do you call the different syntax elements of a programming
language? I need a term that would cover class definitions, object
declarations, function declarations, if-then-else statements, loops,
etc.
The programmers I work with have suggested the following, but I'm not
sure which one's appropriate.
constructs
structures
forms
productions
statements
expressions
I would appreciate any suggestions. Please reply to me directly since
I receive the list in digest format. I'll post a summary if anyone
else is interested.
Thanks,
Jon Herrera
