Definitely put the label above the table because sometimes a long table
can overflow to the next page(s). In the normal reading sequence the
reader won't have to (potentially) flip pages to be sure he's looking at
the correct one.

Alignment? I prefer flush left (aligned with body text). Caption aligned
left also.
