1. Laurel was talking about two paragraph styles, as was confirmed in an
off-line discussion.
2. What's your point with this response anyway?

I have to disagree. You are right in saying that Word will not allow
two paragraph styles in a single paragraph.
However, Laurel was talking about a Character style, which Word does
allow to reside in a paragraph.
