The dream job doesn't exist, except from the outside. But you can, in
the right circumstances, create a reasonable facsimile thereof, if you
work hard and stick with it. But you have to have the mindset that (1)
there's a pot at the end of the rainbow if you stick it out and (2)
the pot is worth the hassle of getting there and the risk of not
getting there.
If that's not true for you, then contracting is probably an option you
should look at. But that has its own problems, too. There's no
absolute dream job.
