My question to you is how clear is your vision of your dream job? Based on
the information that you provided us, I don't believe that you really know
what it is that you want. Until your vision is precise enough for you to
describe it in concrete terms, you will continue to have problems and be
dissatisfied.
Do you know what type of documentation you want to work on? Do you know
what level of responsibility for the project and/or deliverable you wish to
accept? Do you even know in what field of technology you wish to work? Do
you feel comfortable as a member of a team, or do you wish to work alone?
Until you can provide these questions with definitive answers, your work
life will remain as it is.
And yes, the ideal job does exist. I know, because I have the ideal job for
me. It meets all of the criteria I have set to make me happy, make me
productive, and make me financially secure --and money was only a small
part of it. I have job satisfaction and the respect of my colleagues and
supervisors. I learned long ago the secret to being happy at work. It is to
find out what it is you like to do most, doing it best, and being lucky
enough to have someone pay you to do it.
