Toni Lee McCreash asks which is correct: "work-around", "work around", or
"workaround".

A rule of thumb is: when in doubt, close it up. As long as it doesn't
create a word which might be confusing. For example, I write email,
website, and microcomputer. However I write e-commerce, because too many
people asked me what ecommerce was.

As the rules for these compounds change with common usage, if you can't
find a resource to guide you, then use your best judgement. Just be
consistent.

I keep Chicago 14, Wired Style, and the AP Stylebook close at hand at all
times.
