I think you handled the immediate situation very diplomatically. You
have emphasized accuracy and subject matter clarity, and you have
pointed no fingers. However, your desire to be free of this
uncomfortable and work-generating situation will take more time. It's
safe to assume that this project has given the senior engineer on the
described project some concerns or at least questions about this junior
engineer, but he/she will need more information to decide that junior is
not quite as sharp as represented. You might begin documenting
everything done with junior while saving everything he provides to you.
Then when asked *where did you get that*, you just turn over the papers;
when asked *why did you include this*, you have a record to respond.
Anyone can then draw a conclusion.
BTW, You should feel secure at this point since you have written several
manuals for these engineers without junior's involvement. By years of
service, you are the known entity, he is the unknown. Don't worry. Be
