I haven't seen anybody mention the use of other people's ideas as plagiarism.
Unique ideas and/or wording should be credited to the source. As for the case in
question, neither the wording nor the idea is unique--therefore probably not
plagiarism. However, as others have mentioned, I wouldn't want to "lift"
something from another document and pass it off as my own. I'd reword it.

Also, I've decided to leave the list. You are a great group and have been most
helpful to me in this time of transition. What I've decided is that I am a
writer and an editor--but not a technical writer. Your concerns seem to be with
computers more than with writing. I'm moving on to editing and writing groups.
Didn't want to leave without saying thanks for all I've learned here.
