While I have no experience dealing with CM at that level of incompetence, I
suggest you comply to his wishes and give him what he asks for (while also
archiving copies away in your safe keeping. That way, you have obeyed your
superiors and covered your ass. You may additionally offer him a BIG magnet
for his desk to keep all those pesky diskettes from being scattered to the
wind.
Even in government, where unfortunately, a lot of imbeciles can rise to the
top, eventually he will trip himself up and be transferred out to somewhere
(probably) where he can do even more damage, but at least he will be out of
your hair.
Frightening to think he is working with the government on Y2K issues. At
least here, we have top people working on the problem. Scary, very scary.
