ExecuTemp Training Resources is a company that specializes in sourcing and
placing middle and upper level training and development professionals.
The Company: A Fortune 25 company.
Position Title: Instructional Writers
General summary of the position:
The writers selected for this project will work with the Development
Project Managers and Lead Instructional Designers to create the content for
sets of related courses for sponsors in various areas. The bulk of these
courses will be delivered in Distance Learning mode, including Lotus
Learning Space. Some classroom courses will be developed as well. The
writers should expect to work with other writers and frequently with the
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the field.
The writers will go through an orientation session with a Development
Project Manager, Instructional Designer and any other team members who will
work closely with them. At this session they should expect to gain access
to project requirements and source materials, receive an explanation of the
standards and conventions and review the project plan. As a result of this
session, the writers will know their roles, the deliverables for which they
are responsible and the milestones they will be expected to achieve.
Tasks:
Help build or follow the course design specifications and or prototype
Build new or convert existing materials to accommodate distance learning
environments, such as Lotus LearningSpace
Create new material using SME input or research
Verify correct spelling and grammar, consistent use of terminology and
adhere to course objectives
Make corrections to materials they develop based on reviews by peer
reviewers, editors, SMEs, and functional testers.
Verify initial functioning of navigation elements and of internal and/or
external links
Attend technical meetings/reviews and provide status updates
Skills:
Instructional writing skills for classroom and multimedia self-paced ins
truction materials.
Information mapping techniques to organize content
Lotus Notes
Either Ami Pro or Word Pro
Freelance
Conduct research independently via SMEs, project source material, Internet,
etc.
Interpret a course design specifications and/or prototype
Visualize concepts using graphics or video
Write self-check items, test questions, survey questions, exercises and
case studies
