Jeff:
I've sent hundreds of jobs to dozens of service bureaus over the yeras,
and this is the first time I ever heard of a client balking at sending
copies of the fonts. The point they make is valid in the strictest
interpretation of license agrements, but there is an understanding in
the print industry that service bureaus are exempt from the license
agreement restrictions on copying fonts. If they were not, they would
either have to invest in the font themselves, make you buy a copy for
them, or go out of business.
This subject is a regular topic on alt.binaries.fonts, my experience is
not unique.
By the way, I've never known a service bureau to delete a font. They
keep backups in case you wipe out your copy.
