Subject:Re: eps: mac illustrator to pc word 6 no luck From:Mike Stockman <stockman -at- JAGUNET -dot- COM> Date:Fri, 22 Jan 1999 17:02:22 -0500
If you place an EPS file (Mac or PC) into a Word document, it should
print just fine on any PostScript printer... it simply may not display
correctly.
Typically, Mac-created EPS files had an embedded bitmapped preview of the
graphic in PICT format (a Mac-specific file format), while PC-created EPS
files had a TIFF preview. These days, most Mac illustration packages can
create EPS files with either a TIFF or a PICT preview, and many people
use the TIFF preview for cross-platform compatibility.
When you save the file in Illustrator, there should be an option for the
TIFF preview (they may call it IBM or PC compatible... I forget the
actual terminology). Once you choose that option, the EPS file should
appear on screen correctly on any platform. This will not affect
printing, which should be working already.
Hope this helps,
