Thank you to those who responded to my query about books or articles that
would be useful in learning "good" spec/requirements writing.
I'm still searching for information, so let me post a follow-up...
Follow-up, part I.
As far back as I can determine, in my company, specs and requirements have
been written based on one template. It's my goal to change that template.
Does anyone have an example spec or requirements document or template that
you would be willing to share with me? Any standards your company generally
subscribes to...formats that you've seen or authored that are particularly
useful?
Follow-up, part II.
I consider our spec/requirements writing to be relatively low-tech. We
don't use any type of modeling standards or software (UML and Rational's
Rose come to mind). We use MSWord and one person's knowledge of the system.
How many of your companies are doing high-tech requirements/systems
modeling/design and analysis? What types of standards do you subscribe to?
What software do you use? How steep are the learning curve and the cost of
these packages?
Thank you all in advance for any information you can give.
If you're willing to share a spec, please email it to me directly...no
attachments to the list, please!
