Subject:Job: Reno or Sacramento From:"Archibald, Dale" <Dale_Archibald -at- ADC -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 28 Jan 1999 11:30:14 -0600
I'm a late-bloomer, moving into technical writing from the journalistic writing arena. I've been writing _about_ technology for 20 years for a wide variety of periodicals. I started one computer magazine that's still popular, and edited another. I've worked as editor on other magazines as well. My first tech writing project was a 300+ page manual about the TR-303 Telecommunications Standard, and ADC's Element Manager. Well, it wasn't simple, but I finished 90% of it in 2-1/2 months, with the help of my co-worker/guru at ADC (who said I did a "super" job). Now I'm waiting for SMEs to finish it off.
My mother just turned 80, and was in a car wreck in Reno in January. Non-injury, thank God, but it totaled her car and shook her up badly. She and my stepfather aren't totally well, and it made me take stock. I would like to find a short-term or contract tech writing position (or a good-paying post on a magazine or newspaper) in the Reno or Sacramento area to start in early March 1999, just to be able to spend some time with her. I'd be happy to send my resume to anyone interested. Any help or suggestions gratefully accepted.
