Subject:Will work for free From:Jennifer Mueller <Jennifer -dot- Mueller -at- LEXIQUEST -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 4 Feb 1999 12:06:00 -0800
As a follow-up to the "Benefits of hiring interns" dialogue that's been
going around, I'd like to volunteer to be an intern...
I recently started technical communications classes at the UC Berkeley
Extension. I've been doing self-taught technical writing, as well as
translating technical documents from French into English, for about a year
now, but felt I needed to structure and validate what I've learned on my
own.
As part of the class, I'll be writing a 20+ page technical document,
preferably a user guide of some sort. Although I will take this project as
seriously as if I were a contractor, I'm not asking for any monetary
compensation.
Ideally, I would like to work with a more senior technical writer who would
be willing to be a mentor to me, throughout the duration of the project, and
possibly during the initial stages of my career, as well.
Is anyone interested in taking me up on this offer, or does anyone have any
advice / suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Jennifer Mueller
