Do not use PDFwriter from FrameMaker. Use PDFwriter for Word and other apps.
Use Save as from FrameMaker in conjunction with Distiller. In NT, use the
Microsoft PS driver with a PPD that supports font rasterisation. In 95/98
use the Adobe PS driver and Distiller PPD from adobe.com.
Try the following and let us know.
Upgrade from 5.5.x to 5.5.6, if you haven't. Make sure FrameMaker 5.5.6 is
installed and working.
Install the Tektronix Phaser 340 600 dpi PostScript printer from your
Microsoft NT CD (thus, install the Microsoft PS driver and NOT the Adobe PS
driver). Note, too, if you install from a CD that contains NT prior to SP3,
you will have to reinstall the service packs (NT automatically overwrites
newer SP files with older files).
Set the Tektronix to print to file and then set it as the default printer.
Setup Distiller's job options and compression as you want.
In a book file, you can right click a generated file (such as the TOC) and
set FrameMaker to create hypertext links.
From FrameMaker (book file or fm file), select Save as. Select PDF as the
file type you are saving to and name the file with a PDF extension.
When prompted, set up the bookmarks.
Let the save as create the PDF for you.
