Well, imagine it. The Mac had a docking station six years ago (or more).
It
is called a "DuoDoc." (sp?) That's old hat. You can use many Mac
laptops as
the CPU for an external monitor and keyboard. You don't even have to buy
a
new card for it.

For the PC laptop that I just bought, I also bought a docking
station- this allows me to plug the peripherals into a single device,
then
just pop my laptop into it and use it as the CPU when I'm at my desk.
I can't imagine such a thing isn't available also for a Mac.
