IMO, by using the closeout version you will be able to train yourself in the
meat and potatos of this product.
When you get work later using Frame, you will be able to learn the little
updates (which are mostly related to outputting and converting).
Get the cheap one and screw up your courage.

Subject: FrameMaker 5.1 versus 5.5
I've decided I need to acquire FrameMaker skills.
To do so, I need to purchase and use it. I'm using Win 95.
I have two options:
1 -- Buy the Academic Version 5.5 (or 5.5.6) at about $250.
2 -- Buy a "closeout" Version 5.1 at about $100.
I can live without the latest version, but does anyone know
of important changes between 5.1 and 5.5 that would influence
my decision?
