Hello,
Another apparent possible solution navigating to Tools|Options, pointing to
the Save tab and clearing the "Allow fast saves" check box. This came as a
suggestion from a colleague--I cannot verify it, as he is somewhat unstable.
However, I have done the above and not encountered the dreaded red-X plague
since. Additionally, there's no way to get those graphics back, and they
will have to be re-inserted. Sorry.
