The 5 Cs for Effective Communication that I adhere to, have taught for
years at all levels from high school English through MBA Managerial
Writing, and include in our corporate style guide are
1. Clear
2. Complete
3. Correct
4. Concise
5. Courteous
IMO, these seem more directly related to Documentation and technical
writing that those from your boss whose 5 Cs perhaps don't apply to
writing itself but to writers and how they do their job.
