currently recruiting for a DATABASE SOFTWARE TECHNICAL EDITOR for a full
time opportunity in Austin, TX.
Our client, leader in the development of enterprise-wide database and
systems management tools for both the client/server and mainframe

Responsibilities:
As a key member within the R&D and information development team, you
will perform mechanical and substantive edits on hardcopy and online
technical documentation for a variety of I.T./DBA related software
tools. Review documentation plans and create editing schedules.
Evaluate the usability of technical documents (software user manuals and
on line help) and recommend ways to improve them. Review documentation
for proper use of techniques such as task orientation, reader
navigational aids, Information Mapping, and indexing, and grammar.
Ensure that publications standards are being followed. Will work with
other editors and writers on cross-company style guidelines and other
projects, as required.
Skills Qualifications:
Must have a BS/BA in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related
field with an excess of 3 years industry experience as a technical
editor of software products with a proven ability to edit software user
manuals and on line help. Experience editing complex database software
product manuals and on line help in either a client/server or mainframe
environment (UNIX, NT, MVS) is necessary. Strong task analysis and
skills with ability to handle aggressive deadlines. Must be an
excellent communicator and enjoy working in a team oriented environment.
Previous background in technical writing helpful.
