Management Clinic:

"Document-based Knowledge Management: Cost Effectively
Building Systems with Existing Technology", presented by
Randy Clark of Enigma, Inc.

Abstract:

Knowledge Management, XML, Content Management, Web
Publishing, these are buzzwords that point to many of the
problems technical publications managers face today.
Charged with automating the intelligent production and
distribution of document and graphics based content to the
Web and CD-ROM while balancing costs and the needs of IS,
publications managers face both technical and strategic
challenges.

This session will explore multiple strategies that
organizations can pursue in building knowledge management
infrastructures. It will closely examine how the
integration of existing authoring, management and
publishing technologies can result in automated end-to-end
systems. Case studies will be used to further illustrate
the component technologies and how XML is impacting
vendors' offerings.
