Download a file from Microsoft at their officeupdate site. It protects the
normal.dot template. I believe its called protection.doc or some such. Open
it, click on the agreement (oh, yes, Microsoft even licenses their free
stuff), then click to execute the macro.
On my computer, this reduces the file close time to essentially no time.
