Proper data storage and file management are essential components to my
job as a technical writer. Seemingly trivial issues, such as what to
name a file, are actually very important. The use of metadata is also a
growing concern.
Anyone who has ever taken over a large or complex project from another
person, or anyone who works in a team, appreciates the importance of
good file management.
BTW, file naming and setting up logical directory structures contains
even more subtleties in a UNIX environment.
Cheers.
