Subject:Online Help Systems = RoboHelp? From:Deborah Cooper <dcooper -at- EDISPATCH -dot- COM> Date:Tue, 6 Apr 1999 08:36:24 -0700
Hi, everyone,
I'm just re-thinking our plan for our software documentation and online
(HTML and regular) Help systems, including context-sensitive help.
Currently, we are using Microsoft Word to create our documentation,
then manually and with some tools, convert that to an HTML-based
Help system. We also need the ability to create the regular Help
system, as used by Win-32 apps.
My question: is RoboHelp the best solution to this, with regards to:
- Can I write the documentation as I normally do in Microsoft Word and
then easily "run" it through RoboHelp to create a Help system, with
minimal touch-ups?
- Can I easily update the initial Help system using RH, or do I have to
basically re-generate it from scratch, according to the Word document?
- In other words, does RH provide a sort-of single-sourcing mechanism
for doing all of the above chores?
I'm actually using Microsoft HTML Help to create our Help system for our
Internet app, but we will be dealing with a win32 app and I need to figure
out the best approach.
