Just my two cents on the single sourcing issue - I know I've mentioned this
before, but thought I'd post the link again for anyone who might be
interested.
We use OLE linking in Word to single source the content of our HLP and PDF
manuals while still giving them a different look and feel. This is by no
means a hands off approach - it requires familiarity with Word and with the
MS help compiler. But, for a Word shop, it is a very low cost solution that
has been absolutely terrific for maintenance. We've been using this
technique for over a year and a half now with little to no difficulties.
Since we have many manuals that have to be produced as both HLP and PDF,
I've found this technique to be a huge timesaver. If you're interested, you
can check out the write-up at http://members.tripod.com/~finglefin/technical/ole.html or you can write me
off list with further questions.
