A nation-wide real estate corporation is looking for technical writer to
research, recommend and develop procedures, data flow diagrams and other hard
copy/electronic documents that support application software, both in-house
developed and purchased applications, for a variety of users with a wide
range of technical knowledge. The resulting documents serve to support system
developers and end-users, communicate processes, report policy changes and/or
impart other information to the diverse user community. The focus of this
process is to allow the audience to perform their tasks, both old and new, as
efficiently and effectively as possible, without generating calls to the Help
Desk support facilities. Products a technical writers produces include:
Production standards, style guides; policy and procedure manuals; instruction
guides and procedural documents; software and system end user documentation;
architect, developer, and QA technical system guides; job aids, visuals and
participants materials for training classes; on-line help; Internet or
Intra-based text.
The minimum experience required for this job includes: a B.S. or B.A. in
Technical Writing or Communications, three or more years experience in the
technical writing field, expert knowledge in MS Word and the MS Office suite,
experience writing manuals designed for a technical IT audience as well as a
variety of end-users, some hands-on technical experience with computer systems
(such as coursework in a programming language), and a familiarity with such
products as RoboHelp, graphics and flowcharting applications and HTML.
Excellent oral communication skills are also required, as is the ability to
organize and prioritize workload. An ability to manage multiple projects and
re-arrange prioritize with little or not notice is also a must.
Relocation is not available.
