Editorial Assistant
Journal of Marketing

The Marshall School of Business has an immediate opening for an editorial
assistant to work with the editor of the Journal of Marketing. This is a full
time position reporting directly to the editor. The editorial assistant will be
responsible for managing and monitoring manuscript flow, communications with
authors and reviewers, and production schedules for the Journal. The editorial
assistant will also be responsible for maintaining and updating the Journal
?s
databases, which contain information about the current status of manuscripts and
the status and availability of members of the editorial board and other
reviewers. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary, and familiarity or
willingness to learn Microsoft Access is important. The position requires
considerable organizational skills and an ability to work autonomously.
The Journal of Marketing, a quarterly journal, is the flagship academic journal
of the American Marketing Association. It is the most widely cited and most
widely circulated academic journal in Marketing, and is also among the most
widely cited of all business and social science related journals. It receives
approximately 300 manuscripts annually and has an acceptance rate of eight to
ten percent. The Journal is published by the publications group of the American
Marketing Association with whom the editorial assistant will need to coordinate
the scheduling of individual issues of the Journal.
This position is funded by the American Marketing Association. However, the
editorial assistant will be a full-time employee of the University of Southern
California.
