I think you're looking for the "Fit Text to Path" feature that worked in
previous and later versions of Corel, but doesn't seem to be working in my
version of (notoriously buggy) Corel 6 either. Good excuse to upgrade,
especially as Corel 9 is now orderable.
Anyway, in other versions you would create your shape, type your text,
select both the text and the shape, and from the menu select Text=>Fit text
to path. Then you play around in the rollup until you get the text
positioned the way you want (centered, below the line, rightside up, etc.)
and click Apply.
