Subject:Writing for information reuse From:DEBBY SCHRYER <dschryer -at- NEWBRIDGE -dot- COM> Date:Fri, 18 Jun 1999 13:24:58 -0400
Hello everyone,
Our Electronic Information Services department serves customer
documentation and course development staff as well as other technical
information developers. We're in the process of introducing an
SGML-based information management system in which information objects
will be stored to maximize reusability. We're interested in hearing from
technical communication professionals to:
a) find out how companies have reoriented information developers from
producing book-oriented, sequential text to modular, context-neutral,
reusable information chunks--what are the training steps, writing
guidelines and lessons learned
b) possibly obtain examples of modular, context-neutral text from a
variety of customer documentation
I have searched the archives with little success in finding the type of
information we're looking for.
Any assistance you can provide to me privately would be much appreciated
because I'm on digest and I hope someone can reply before the next
digest is posted.
Thank you,
Debby Schryer
