If you go with Word and use the drawing object tools to place numbers or
other graphical elements over your screen shots: remember to clear the Float
over text option when inserting a screen shot into your Word document (you
can also format an existing screen shot and clear this option). If you
don't, you'll never get the numbered button or whatever other drawing object
you place over your screen shot to show up on your print out.

Does anyone know of a particular software that would be good

This may seem elementary to most of you but I need the help!
