Sony Suprastructure Center - Europe (SUPC-E)
Brussels, Belgium
SUPC-E is a Sony Research & Development centre, part of an international team
that is developing "Aperios", Sony's new embedded operating system. Together
with other Sony teams around the world, we are developing object-oriented
software for applications such as video phones, digital television equipment,
and internet appliances. Have you heard of Aibo, Sony's entertainment robot that
sold out in 20 minutes in Japan? Aibo's software runs on Aperios.
We are recruiting technical communicators to join our team in Brussels, which
consists of forty people of nine different nationalities from three continents.
You will hear many languages spoken in the office, but English is the common
working language. Documentation is written in English, and sometimes translated
into Japanese at our office in Tokyo.
Opportunities for illustration, usability testing, and user interface design may
be available, for candidates with the interest and abilities.
Requirements:
- an interest in operating systems and audiovisual services
- some knowledge of object-oriented concepts and C/C++
- experience documenting software development environments or APIs
- university education in Technical Communication (or a related degree), or
equivalent work experience
Assets:
- familiar with UNIX and Microsoft Windows
- experience with FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, RoboHELP
This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the core R&D of a leading
consumer electronics company. We offer an attractive salary and benefits
package, commensurate with a company of Sony's size. Relocation assistance may
also be available, and Sony will sponsor candidates who require work permits for
Belgium. Sony is an equal opportunity employer.
