Working in England

Hi everyone,

I'm mulling over the idea of moving to England in a year or so.  I've spent a
week searching for "moving to England" information (came up with a whopping two
web sites), and would like to get some information about working as a technical
author.  I went to the STC UK site and found a few useful points there, but
further web searches only pointed me to job boards.  Specifically, I'm looking
for salary information (anything akin to the salary survey compiled by the STC
for North America would be great), locations (which cities have the most jobs),
and qualification requirements to get a mid-level position.   If anyone has made
the move from Canada to the UK, I'd really like to hear how your experience
went.

Some background info about myself, if this helps:  I'm Canadian, I have one year
of contract and eight months of permanent tech writing under my belt, I also
have a background in graphic design and can muster up a decent web site if
needed.  If anyone has any good sites bookmarked, inside information, opinions,
or insight, feel free to email me and let me know.  I doubt this is a topic that
