JOBS: Contract and Permanent technical writers -- Rockville, MD

Network Associates, Inc., in Rockville, Maryland, is seeking both a
permanent Technical Writer and a long-term Contract Technical Writer with at
least 1-3 years of experience for full-time, on-site positions. These
positions
are in our Total Network Security business unit.

Job Description: Work as part of a publications team documenting firewalls
and other network security products.
Scope of work includes:
*       Develop plans for assigned documents from work conception through
delivery to production.
*       Create, edit, and proofread documents and/or online help according
to product design, operation, and corporate standards.
*       Represent Technical Publications at internal meetings such as design
meetings, change review, and product status meetings.

Job Responsibilities:
*       Obtain necessary information from available documents and subject
matter experts.
*       Install, configure, and run software products on test machines.
*       Create hard copy documentation and online help.
*       Create any necessary artwork.
*       Guide documents and/or online help through review and production
cycles.
*       Participate in corporate-wide publications focus groups.

Job Skills desired:
*       Three or more years of experience as a technical writer developing
end user and
system administrator documentation
*       Strong verbal and written communication skills
*       Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*       Experience with FrameMaker
*       Knowledge of the Internet, networking, and security
*       HTML experience
*       Experience with UNIX systems and/or Windows NT 4.0
