Most of what Lydia says makes perfect sense, and, of course, I do whatever
it takes to get the job done, but I refuse to recognize as productive work
the typical frantic and superficial activity that I objected to. I do find
it interesting that Lydia tells me off for using the word team when I poke
fun at the "constant fun-filled, team-based, pumped-up excitement" expected
of some unfortunate employees. It illustrates the almost religious fervor
now associated with the team word. I do not wish to be branded as a heretic,
I simply prefer to think of the many people I work with as individual
professionals who have come together to do a job that they could not do
individually. Their membership of a team is incidental, it doesn't define
them.

Regards,
Dave.
