The Office patches have a history of problems. You should get the
replacement CD, which is actually a full product, not a patch.
(Technically, MS makes available 2 CDs, one with just the patch, one
with a full product; do *not* let the MS techs send you the patch CD.)
The details of just why you want to *not* use the Office patches have
been detailed over the months in Woody's Office Watch. You can read the
back issues at www.wopr.com, which also contains pages that details why
you want the full install, not the patch.
MS does not only send out replacement disks for folks who have bought
the software retail. They do, however, generally not send out updates
for OEM versions. In that case, contact the computer manufacturer and
demand the full update from them. Being installed on your computer does
not necessarily mean an OEM version. Plus, even though it was installed,
you should still have a CD (unless it was a network install, and if
that's the case, have your MIS people get you the full SR2 install on
your network). If yours in not an OEM version, you can get the update
directly from MS.
