Subject:Two questions about the subscription fee From:David Downing <DavidDowning -at- USERS -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 5 Aug 1999 12:55:11 -0400
Two questions about the proposed fee for TECHWR-L:
1. Would people still be able to search the archives for free? Of late, I
just plain haven't had much time to read the Digests, and have decided to
just search the archives when I have a specific issue I want help on. (And
hey, charging for the actual list but not the archives might weed out those
folks who say, "Well, I didn't want to bother searching the archives, so
I'll just post this question for what I realize might be the 10,000th time."
2. Could people who contribute a lot get a price break. I confess I'm more
of a taker than a giver, and so it seems fair enough if I have to pay, but
it seems kind of a shame to charge people who are already givers. And as
someone pointed out, there may be a lot of would-be givers who'd have to
drop out or wouldn't join in the first place if they had to pay.
