Subject:SUMMARY: Professional Organizations From:"Eric J. Ray" <ejray -at- RAYCOMM -dot- COM> Date:Tue, 17 Aug 1999 06:12:08 -0600
I asked last week about any suggestions for professional
organizations to supplement my STC membership, and got
between 5 and 10 responses.
Both ACM SIGDOC (http://www.acm.org/sigdoc/) and IEEE
PCS (http://www.ieeepcs.org) were recommended a few of
times, with other ACM SIGs also getting mentions. As a whole
most people seem to find ACM more theoretical and IEEE
more practical.
Other suggestions included the National Writer's
Union (http://www.nwu.org/) and a variety of
other groups (Chamber of Commerce, local Frame
Users group, etc.)
