Subject:Job: Folsom, CA Techpubs Dept. Manager From:Mark Dempsey <mxd2 -at- osi -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L, a list for all technical communication issues" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 02 Sep 1999 10:51:19 -0700
We're hiring an experienced technical publications manager for an 8-13
person techpubs department. We'll consider relocation, but probably not
international relocation.
The manager must make schedules, assign work, do a small amount of
writing and be an advocate for techpubs to the rest of the company in
meetings. The most qualified candidates would be able to advise us about
forms of online manual/help presentation, preferrably with
single-sourced documents.
We currently use FrameMaker (UNIX, Mac & PC), Webworks, and Acrobat to
make our docs. The products they describe are (5GL) programming products
that manage very large networks. An understanding of object-oriented
programming, network architecture, databases and telecommunications
technologies would all be pluses.
The salary and benefits will be competitive for our region. We have a
casual workplace, and a good-humored department that works well
together.
If you forward your resume to me, I'll get a spiff for referring you,
and you'll get an advocate with the department (provided you look like
the person for the job). This announcement is from me, not OSI's H.R.
dept., so all disclaimers apply. H.R. has not even posted this to our
external website (http://www.osi.com), so you could say this is early
warning of requests to come...
