If you're working with Linux, a penguin typing.
For *BSD, the little red daemon.

A Rosetta stone sort of thing. Its sections include
a chunk of rather formal spec, some code, and a chunk
of step-by-step user procedure?

A development flowchart with a highlighted entry
"Write TFM"? Of course, it should be shown as on
the critical path.

Almost any traditional symbol of writing. Quill,
scroll, book, typewriter, printing press, ...

Medieval illuminated manuscript version of the
word "Documentation"?
