Subject:Version numbering From:Terence Kierans <TKierans -at- TRANSIGO -dot- NET -dot- AU> Date:Tue, 7 Oct 1997 10:41:11 +1000
I am having a difference of opinion with the Quality Manager.
He maintains that versions should progress as integers, ie 1,2,3,4 etc
regardless of the extent of the change.
I am endeavouring to make minor changes as dot versions eg 1.1, 1.2,
1.3 etc, and reserve the integer change for major changes.
Can someone please point me to a reference which I can quote for what
constitutes "major" and "minor".
Thanks in advance for this, and all the other useful information I
have gleaned from that team of professionals out there.
