User documentation surveyI've recently launched my latest user documentation survey which you can find at http://tiny.cc/smgkc Please do take part (it will only take you five minutes), and please pass this invitation on to anyone who might be interested. I'd especially like to get feedback from people who use the user documentation that comes with gadgets and software, as well as from people who create the documentation. That means I am asking members of Techwr-l not only to complete the survey themselves, but to invite all their readers - clients, customers and colleagues - to take the survey as well. How do you like to write? With music blaring on your iPod? In a quiet corner? Actually, that's not where I'm going with this (although I admit I don't write and listen to music at the same time). I'm talking about something a little more fundamental. Do you like to write in a traditional narrative format? Read more. Documentation typesHello Everyone!!! I'm a Tech Comm student and I was wondering if you could help me out with some research that I'm doing for a project. 1) How many of you have switched from print documentation to online documentation (pdf, xml, etc)? Do you still use both kinds? 2) Why did you/your company switch? 3) How has this cut down on costs, time, effort, etc? 4) Have clients said anything about the switch? If so, what? Have there been any that have requested print only? If you could answer these questions and anything else you might feel is relevant, please do so! Thank you!
