Subject:RE: Term usage - encrypted vs. "en clair" From:bryan -dot- westbrook -at- amd -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 1 Dec 2000 15:24:51 -0600
Here's my 4 cents on this topic (I've got two comments, so I'm doubling
down):
I have never seen "en clair" used before (even though I studied French for
more about 4 1/2 semesters). When I first saw it mentioned here, I got a
bit hungry because it reminded me of eclair.
To me, "in clear text" has a connotation of meaning an outline font with a
see-through middle. Maybe that's just me, but I think "plain text" is
"unencrypted" are both better choices.
