thank you all:

It was pointed out that I should have posted this question to the
copyeditor's list, sorry for any intrusion.  The list of responses I
receieved was:

organized (by)
arranged
delineated
categorized (by)
separated
divided
grouped
classified
arranged in the order of
listed
itemized
contains

the original statement was:

This file contains all holdings at that trust broken down by fund and
account.

I rewrote this to:

This file contains all holdings at that trust listed by fund and account.

The problem I was trying to avoid was finding an equally bad (in my opinion)
synonym for not a great term in the first place.
