You can watch PDFMaker process your file.
Soon after you click the Create button, PDFMaker reduces the window size to hardly more than a blue title bar.
As soon as that happens, click the middle button to restore the Word window to its normal size. You'll see insertion point zip up and down the file, processing bookmarks, cross-references, and whatever other conversions you've selected.
The neat thing is that you can see where processing stops, which will be a great help in knowing what to fix.
I've seen problems with MS Office clip art used in a table (they're *huge* memory hogs). I've also suspected the "table before heading" problem mentioned by Larry Harrison, but our house style includes an intervening spacer paragraph, so I haven't investigated it fully.
