We use a system similar to Lydia's: folders in Outlook, organized by
eventual location of the bits-and-pieces. We too have begun to think that
there's a lot of stuff in there, and that a different system is needed:
what we are trying for now is including all new bits in manuals pretty much
as the bits are produced, rather than waiting and doing a massive updating
1x per year. Ask me in 6 mos. whether this works.
